1. Owner’s Risk & Insurance

All items are moved at the owner's risk. While we treat every job with care and professionalism, A1 Contracting Marlborough Ltd accepts no liability for damage to items unless caused by proven negligence. We are fully insured and aim to deliver reliable, damage-free services every time.

2. Booking Requirements

To ensure an accurate quote and smooth service, please provide clear details when booking, including:

Number of bedrooms (for house moves)

Any large or unusual items (e.g. piano, safe, gym gear, oversized furniture)

Access challenges (stairs, narrow hallways, long driveways, steep sections)

Inaccurate or missing information may affect your quoted price or our ability to complete the job.

3. Quotes & Pricing

Quotes are free and based on the info provided at the time of booking. Final charges may differ if:

The job scope changes on the day

Extra labour, vehicles, or time are required
All prices are in NZD and subject to GST.

4. Cancellations & Rescheduling

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 24 hours’ notice.
Late cancellations may incur a fee to cover staffing and prep time.

Notice Requirements:
To cancel or reschedule a booking, the Customer must provide written notice via email to [email protected]. The notice period is calculated from the time the written notice is received during standard business hours.

Cancellation Fees:
In the event of a cancellation, the following charges shall apply to the total quoted cost:

More than 14 days' notice: A full refund of any deposit paid will be issued, less a $90.00 administrative processing fee.

14 days or less notice: A cancellation fee equal to 50% of the total quoted cost will be charged. This fee represents a genuine pre-estimate of the loss incurred by the Company for reserved labour and vehicle capacity that cannot be readily reallocated.

Ferry and Third-Party Charges:
For bookings requiring ferry transport or other third-party transit services:

Any non-refundable ferry booking fees or cancellation penalties imposed by the ferry operator will be charged to the Customer in full, in addition to the standard cancellation fee.

If the Company has already disbursed funds for ferry tickets at the time of cancellation, these costs will be recovered from the Customer regardless of the notice period provided.

5. Areas We Service

We’re proudly based in Blenheim and operate across Blenheim, Marlborough, Nelson, Christchurch and nationwide. Travel charges may apply for out-of-town work.

6. Health & Safety

Our crew has the right to stop or reschedule any job where conditions are unsafe or unsuitable. This includes:

Hazardous environments

Poor access

Aggressive or abusive behaviour
Health and safety is a top priority for every team member.

7. Storage Services

We offer short- and long-term storage options (subject to availability).
Clients must ensure all stored items are safely packed, sealed, and labelled.
Access to stored items must be arranged in advance.

8. Liability

We’re careful, but can’t take responsibility for damage caused by:

Pre-existing wear and tear

Fragile or poorly packed items

Difficult access (tight corners, staircases, etc.)

All goods moved by A1 Contracting are carried at the Owners-Risk in accordance with the Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017.
A1 Contracting do advise that you get your own Transit Insurance.

Any claims must be reported within 24 hours of the service, with photos and details provided.

9. Payment Terms

Unless pre-arranged, payment is due on completion of the job.
We accept:

Cash

Bank transfer

Other methods by agreement

Late payments may incur fees or recovery costs.

A 20% deposit will confirm this booking.

7 day payment terms. Failure to pay within the 7 days will incur a 10% penalty of the total bill amount.
